We’re pleased to announce The Imaging Wire’s updated list of top radiology resources for 2025 – the people and publications we rely on to find the most interesting medical imaging stories.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll notice we’ve expanded the list from 35 resources last year to 40 this year – not only does “top 40” have a nice ring to it, but a broader list better captures the amazing range of voices in the medical imaging industry.
Another major development since last year was an exodus of science and medical professionals from Twitter/X to the BlueSky platform. Some radiology thought leaders abandoned X entirely, while others have kept accounts going on both services as they wrestle with the conundrum of abandoning audiences built on Twitter over many years.
Regardless of platform, this list of top radiology resources should keep you well-informed about healthcare’s top medical specialty.

- DeepSeek AI for Doctors: The DeepSeek large language model AI algorithm stunned the world when it was unveiled in January by its Chinese developer. Now, news reports indicate that DeepSeek is already in use by doctors at nearly 100 Chinese hospitals and is bringing about a “revolution” in the country’s healthcare sector. Use cases include developing patient treatment plans, performing scientific research, and writing medical records. The algorithm is seen as a boon for China’s chronically overcrowded hospitals, plagued by a static workforce and growing patient volume.
- ChestView Lands FDA Clearance: Gleamer’s U.S. expansion reached a major new milestone, after the company announced the FDA clearance of its ChestView solution, coming nearly three years after its BoneView solution’s clearance. ChestView is a Computer-Aided Detection (CADe) model that simultaneously detects multiple pathologies and highlights abnormalities. Indeed, a previous study showed that radiologists who used ChestView read CXR images 31% faster with better accuracy.
- CEM Goes Solo for Breast Screening: Contrast-enhanced mammography works well enough to be used as a primary modality for women needing supplemental breast screening, without whole-breast ultrasound or low-energy mammography (FFDM-like images generated from CEM data). In a study of 468 women in Radiology, CEM had the highest sensitivity (89%) compared to low-energy imaging alone (11%) and in combination with ultrasound (44%). Although CEM had the highest abnormal interpretation rate at 19% and more patients were worked up, whole-breast ultrasound is not necessary for women getting CEM.
- Fujifilm & Us2.ai Echo Partnership: Thanks to a new partnership, Fujifilm’s LISENDO 800 cardiovascular ultrasound system will now come with Us2.ai’s AI-driven, automated clinical workflow solution. Us2.ai’s software will fully automate the analysis and reporting of echocardiograms performed by the LISENDO 880 to provide cardiac measurements and diagnose heart disease. This means the user doesn’t need to manually measure the chambers of the heart, saving time during the diagnostic process.
- CT Colonography Momentum Grows: Momentum is growing for CT colonography for colon cancer screening now that Medicare is paying for the exam. But radiologists have much to learn about CTC given past low adherence rates for asymptomatic screening. That’s according to an AJR article that reviews CTC’s benefits and challenges, finding that PCPs must be convinced to order the study, and radiologists can lead outreach efforts. Managing extracolonic findings is another challenge where radiologists can help. Most importantly, radiologists need to show interest in CTC.
- RAM Selects HAP: Healthcare Administrative Partners continued its rad practice expansion, as Radiology Alliance of Maine selected HAP as its comprehensive revenue cycle and practice management services provider. The nine-doctor group will rely on HAP for all core revenue cycle services including billing, coding, carrier credentialing, business intelligence, and MIPS Measure Assurance Services, as well as comprehensive practice management services.
- RAGs to Riches for Radiology LLMs: Researchers were able to improve the performance of large language model AI algorithms by fine-tuning them on radiology-specific data. In a paper in Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, researchers developed what they called a retrieval-augmented generation system trained on 3.7k RadioGraphics articles. They compared it to general LLMs, finding the RAG algorithm outperformed LLMs for answering 24 questions (85% vs. 76%) and successfully retrieving and accurately citing relevant references (88% and 86%). RAGs show promise as real-time assistants for radiologists.
- VoxelPrompt LLM Tackles Diverse Tasks: Looking for a large language model that can perform a diverse set of medical image analysis tasks? Check out VoxelPrompt, a new LLM developed by researchers from MIT, Harvard, and MGB that’s described in a new pre-publication paper posted to arXiv. VoxelPrompt can analyze CT and MRI data, performing functions such as delineating anatomical and pathological features, measuring morphological properties, and generating open-language analysis of lesion characteristics. VoxelPrompt reportedly has accuracy similar to fine-tuned models but for a broader array of tasks.
- QT Imaging Secures $10M Note: Acoustic breast imaging developer QT Imaging shored up its financial foundation with a $10.1M secured note that matures in March 2027. The company will use the funds for working capital and as part of its goal to deliver 100 scanners to distribution partner NXC Imaging over the next two years, which it expects to generate $100M in revenue. It also used the funds to pay down other debt, leaving it with $5.5M in net proceeds before transaction costs.
- OpenAI Research Consortium: OpenAI is investing $50M in a new academic research consortium called NextGenAI, which comprises 15 partner universities including Harvard, Oxford, and MIT. NextGenAI will advance AI research and education across multiple industries, but specifically mentions healthcare-related goals like accelerating rare disease diagnosis and improving AI alignment with human values in medical decision-making.
- Bracco Updates Cardiac PET Software: Contrast developer Bracco Diagnostics released new features for its HeartSee software for myocardial blood flow quantification with PET. HeartSee v4.0 updates include a feature called relative stress flow to provide an indirect assessment of subendocardial border zones in areas with mildly reduced coronary flow capacity. HeartSee can also measure subendocardial ischemia.
